If the saggy skin on your thighs is making you feel self-conscious, thighplasty can help you achieve the svelte legs you desire.
What is Thighplasty?
A thigh lift is a procedure that contours both the inner and outer thighs by getting rid of excess skin, fat and tissue.
A thigh lift is done on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia. It can be performed using different techniques depending on the amount of excess skin on the thighs, as well as the patient’s aesthetic goals. Your surgeon will discuss the various techniques and recommend the most suitable one for you.
The incision for the inner thigh lift is generally made in the groin area, while the incision for the outer thigh lift starts in the groin area, and extends around the hip and back.
The recovery time after a thigh lift normally ranges from 2-3 weeks. Patients can expect to experience some swelling and pain within the first 2-3 days of surgery. A compression garment is also worn in order to minimize swelling and provide support for the thighs during healing.
Am I a Good Candidate?
Individuals that have undergone substantial weight loss, and have extra skin on the thigh are usually good candidates for thighplasty. Major weight loss often makes the skin less elastic and it cannot return to its original state. A thigh lift may be the only way to get rid of it.
Thigh lift candidates should be within 10-20 pounds of their ideal weight, and must also be in overall good health. Men and women that have lost a massive amount of weight often have to undergo a total body lift, in order to get rid of excess skin on various parts of the body. A thigh lift is an important component of a total body lift.
Men and women with loose thigh skin as a result of aging are also good candidates. Aging decreases the health of the skin, and the loss of collagen and elastin makes the thighs loose and droopy. A thigh lift can restore the natural shape.
Thighplasty is primarily concerned with removing excess skin, although it can eliminate small pockets of fat, it’s not meant specifically for fat removal. Therefore, patients that have a lot of fat in the thighs will also have to undergo liposuction.
Benefits of Thighplasty
Thighplasty can improve your overall shape and optimize proportions between the legs, buttocks, and abdomen.
