Dr. Nancy McKee graduated from the University of Toronto Medical School in 1970 and completed her residency training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery under Dr. W. K. Lindsay in 1976.
Nancy was influenced by the growing trend of microsurgery and with Drs. Ralph Manktelow and Ron Zuker helped to create the city’s first replantation team. Her interest in microvascular surgery led to her performing the first penile replantation in Canada in 1980. Nancy was the first female member of the division and has been the sole Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon in the Department of Surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital for over 3 decades. She was incredibly dedicated to the pursuit of research and championed the early days of the Surgeon Scientist Program at the University of Toronto and furthered the research profile of the division in the 1980’s and 90’s as its Research Director. Dr. McKee was run a very productive research laboratory focused on muscle physiology which has produced surgeon scientists such as Dr. Bill Kuzon and Joel Fish.
