About Hair Restoration Medications
There are a couple of topical and oral medications that can be a fairly effective treatment for hair loss. The most common active ingredients in these medications are finasteride and minoxidil. They can either be used in conjunction with various types of hair transplantation or as a stand-alone solution for balding. These usually take anywhere from 6 month to a year to work.
Limits & Risks
A common side effect of these medications is some shedding of existing hair, so it is important to remain patient in the early days of treatment, and to see the course of medication through. If the drugs are discontinued, then their effects will quickly wear off and you may find that your hair coverage is less than it was before the course of treatment was started.
