  • Dear Nicole,

It is often in the early to mid 40s that the early signs of again appear.  We can classify aging into “the 3D’s.”  Deterioration, deflation and descent.  Animated areas such as the lips
which constantly move or around the eyes with laughing and squinting can lead to fissures in our skin and permanent resting and dynamic lines.  These early signs of aging are best treated
usually with a combination of topical medically prescribed skin care regimes that will increase dermal collagen in combination option with fractional laser treatments that use laser and radio frequency fractional devices to increase collagen content under the wrinkles and for very animated individuals in their 40s the introduction of a modest amount of Botox to minimize successive
movement.  These treatments often result in significant reduction of fine lines and wrinkles and are usually a good place to start.

As aging continues with deflation or loss of volume, the addition of soft tissue fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane, Radiesse or Sculptra can be performed and this can be combined with micro fat grafting.
Finally, in the ages of descent tale of brow lifts and mini lifts of the mid face and jawline can help with the fine lines and wrinkles.

Many options exist at this very early phase of fine line, wrinkle and aging assessment by a cosmetic physician or certified plastic surgeon that has all the options so that you can select the one that appeals to you most is your best place to start.

I hope this information has been of some assistance and best of luck.

  • The lines around the mouth are best dealt with by using a dermal filler. Typically a finer hyaluronic acid is used so as not to plump the lips, just to help reduce the lines around the eyes. Botulinum toxin does a great job at reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Additional Information

Botulinum Toxin aka Botox
