Recovery time for chemical peel?
I’m interested in getting a chemical peel. I’m worried because I can’t take any down time from work right now. How much recovery time is required after a chemical peel? Can I wear make up after a chemical peel?

Dear Melanie,
Recovery time from a chemical peel
that is very mild or moderate can be a matter of 24-48 hours. Mild chemical peels such as Salicylic acid or
20-30% Glycolic acid or low concentration Trichloroacetic acid heal very
quickly and have a minor degree of erythema.
These very superficial peels act as an exfoliant and can improve brown
discolouration and the glow of skin.
Superficial peels rarely result in deep and insignificant collagen
production with a wrinkle reduction and tightening. Stronger chemical peels such as 80% Glycolic
acid or 50% of greater Trichloroacetic acid will cause significant time to
recover. The recovery time for these can
be in the order of 7-10 days. The
resulting erythema can be covered by 7-10 days and collagen production
continues for 4-6 weeks.
