Non-surgical method to fix droopy eyelids?
I have very droopy eyelids. I know you can have eyelid surgery, but the idea of surgery on my eyelids makes me feel a little uneasy. Are there any non-surgical ,ethods that can be used to fix droopy eyelids?
American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, American Board of Plastic Surgery
Dear Sandra,
Thank you for your clinical
post. A droopy eyelid generally means a
patient suffering from excess hooding and tissue of the upper eyelid. They eyelid itself is generally not droopy,
that it does not encroach upon the iris, but there is droopy tissue on a
normally placed upper eyelid.
Non-surgical techniques to improve
this include non-surgical elevation of the eyebrow with Botox brow lifting,
soft tissue filler injections to elevate the brow as well as bulk heating radio
frequency devices such as the Forma, the Venus Freeze, the Exilis, Thermage or
subdermal heating techniques such as the FaceTite or ThermiRF. These techniques all result in the soft
tissue elevation of the eyebrow, which lifts some of the droopy tissue off the
eyelid. Other techniques such as
fractional CO2 resurfacing of the upper eyelid skin and other tightening
devices can improve droopiness of the upper eyelids.
Of course, an upper eyelid
blepharoplasty is one of the most consistent ways to improve the appearance of
the upper eyelid with or without an endoscopic tail of brow lift.
I hope this information is of some
assistance and best of luck.
