My septum is deviated a tad
I have a slight deviation in my septum, and sometimes have a hard time breathing through one nostril, while the other seems okay. I don’t know if it “needs” corrected or not, but I would like to be able to breathe properly for once.
I’ve done a lot of research on the correction surgery, but at the same time, I absolutely do not feel comfortable with my nose the way it is. I have always wanted to have this procedure done since I first ever heard of “nose jobs”.
If I got the correction for my septum done, while they are in there, could they possibly just make my nose more fit for my face at the same time?
I don’t know.
Any input would be fantastic, because I really want this done, but I need a little more insight before I make a decision.

Dear Brie,
Nasal airway obstruction can be
caused by a deviated septum, hypertrophy of the turbinates or pathologies such
as a polyp. Airway functional breathing
obstruction is covered by OHIP and as such I do not charge for it. However, there are cosmetic nasofacial
balance and proportion issues a cosmetic rhinoplasty could be performed at the
same time the breathing obstruction can be addressed and hopefully improved.
I’ve been performing cosmetic
rhinoplasty for over 20 years. I was
fortunate to be trained in both plastic surgery and 2 years of ENT head and
neck oncology.
I hope this information is of some
assistance and best of luck.
