Liposuction to get rid of cellulite

Question posted by Pricilla from Toronto

I’m interested in getting liposuction done on my legs. Will that get rid cellulite? How much fat has to be removed for it to get rid of the cellulite on my legs?

  • Dear Pricilla,

Thank you for your clinical post and
this is a common question.  Just to
clarify liposuction does not improve or get rid of the appearance of
    cellulite.  In fact, traditional
liposuction will make cellulite look worse.
Cellulite is a complex condition of the profusion and physiology of the
    superficial skin.  Advanced cellulite
consists of a series of nodules and indentations giving you that lumpy, bumpy,
cottage cheese appearance.  There are now
some modern thermal techniques using the radio frequency energy probes called
Cellutite or a laser fibre called Cellulaser to specifically attack and reduce
the appearance of nodules and pits smoothing the appearance of cellulite
    significantly after a single session.
Deploying both Cellutite and Cellulaser I’m often able to get 50-75%
improvement in the appearance of cellulite.

    Cellulite laser and radio frequency
treatments are performed under local anesthesia and involve the use of a
liposuction garment for 3-6 weeks following treatment and improvements can be
achieved for many years following intervention.

    Best of luck.
