Dear MarissaS,
Headaches can be quite a terrible and debilitating clinical pathology. There are different types of headaches including cluster headaches, tension headaches and migraine headaches. Typically Botox has been shown to be successful and many patients just suffer from tension headaches and migraine headaches of a vascular origin. Selective injections in certain areas of the scalp now where the constricted blood vessels can lead to a vascular migraine can be greatly alleviated if not corrected with use of Botox. Tension headaches that are stimulated near the front of the hairline and forehead and skull can be alleviated with forehead Botox. The advantage of Botox in the forehead to alleviate either vascular or tension headaches is the ancillary aesthetic
improvement. In Toronto, there are some neurologists and family practitioners that will treat your Botox as a functional problem and you won’t pay the aesthetic fee of the Botox, only
the cost of the Botox disposable itself. Generally, if you’re injected by a cosmetic plastic surgeon or cosmetic dermatologist the improvement in your migraine headaches will be a by-product
of the aesthetic enhancement and you would pay the aesthetic fee.
Either way, for the right type of headache patient Botox can be a real benefit both functionally and aesthetically.
I hope this information has been of some assistance and best of luck.
