The Youthful Face
Time, gravity, and environmental factors all take a toll on your appearance. Before you know it wrinkles, fine lines, and creases, start to appear on your face and neck. Fortunately, there are now several procedures that can be used to counteract the signs of aging, but what are the best procedures for restoring a youthful face? This article takes a look at 5 of them.
The facelift (rhytidectomy) remains a popular facial procedure for giving your face a fresher, more youthful look. The facelift is done to correct sagging in the jowls and neck, and to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Facelifts are generally recommended for people over the age of 40.
A facelift is an outpatient procedure that is usually performed under general anesthesia, or local anesthesia with sedation. The location of the incisions varies, but they are typically made from the temples and down the front and back of the ears. During the facelift, the surgeon will lift the skin, tighten the underlying muscle, and trim any excess skin.
Facial fat Transfer
Facial fat transfer is a technique that is used to add volume to areas that have lost volume due to the effects of aging. It is an effective way to regain a youthful look and restore confidence in your appearance. Facial fat transfer uses a patient’s own fat, which is extracted from areas such as the abdomen and thighs that traditionally have surplus amounts. The fat is first taken from the donor areas via liposuction. It is then processed and purified, before being carefully injected into those areas of the face that need volume. There is generally some swelling after the procedure, and this can take up to 2 weeks to resolve. The results of the facial fat transfer will last for many years since the fat stays in place permanently.
Blepharoplasty or an eyelid lift is a procedure that is carried out to rejuvenate the eyes. An eyelid lift may be done on the upper eyelids to correct the hooding of the skin, or on the lower eyelids to get rid of bags or dark circles under the eyes. Blepharoplasty is almost always done on an outpatient basis, using local anesthesia. The incisions for surgery are made in the natural crease of the eyelids, so they are not noticeable after surgery. During the operation the surgeon will trim away sagging skin, and remove excess fat from the eyelids.
Droopy brows are often a telltale sign of aging, not only do they make you look older, they can also obscure the eyes. A browlift will lift the brow, and also get rid of lines on the forehead often referred to as ‘frown lines.’ A browlift is usually done as an outpatient surgery with local anesthesia, but general anesthesia may sometimes be recommended. There are different methods that can be used to perform a browlift, however, the endoscopic browlift is a popular option. The endoscope is a tiny instrument that is introduced into the body to give the surgeon a visual guide of what’s happening below the skin. The incisions for the browlift are made just above the hairline. The surgeon will remove any excess fat, muscle, and skin on the forehead and brows. The endoscopic brow lift has a shorter recovery time and less bruising than the traditional browlift.
Chin implant or chin augmentation is a procedure that is done to improve your profile and give you a beautifully contoured chin. It is particularly beneficial for people with a weak or receding chin.
Chin implant surgery is usually done by inserting a soft medical grade solid silicone implant into the chin. The implant is inserted via an incision made in the mouth, or in the skin crease beneath the chin. There may be some mild swelling after the procedure, but this resolves within a few days.
